Arrival, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Upon arrival Julius K. Nyerere International airport you will be met by your private guide and vehicle and transferred to your hotel for overnight.
Day 1: Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania Pick up from the hotel, you will then drive down south to Selous Game Reserve. At 55 000 square km, Selous is the largest protected game reserve in the world. It is named after legendary British hunter-explorer Frederick Courtney Selous, who was killed here during WW1.
Selous boasts Tanzania's largest population of Elephant as well as large numbers of herds of Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile, Wild Dog, a variety of 440 species of birds, over 2000 variety of plants, hot volcanic springs, lagoons, the great Rufiji River and the diverse landscape makes Selous Game Reserve a World Heritage Site.
Other species commonly seen are Lion , Bushbuck, Impala, Giraffe, Eland, Baboon, Zebra and greater Kudu. Overnight at Msafiri Mobile Camp. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner.(FB)
Day 2: Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania
Start the day with a Tanzania walking safari accompanied by an armed game ranger. Thereafter, proceed for a full day drive with packed picnic lunch provided. Overnight at Msafiri Mobile Camp. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. (FB)
Day 3: Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania
Morning boat safaris along Rufiji River which will be followed by the full day game drive in the reserve with full board accommodation at Msafiri Mobile Camp.
Day 4: Mikumi National Park, Tanzania
Mikumi National Park is Tanzania's third largest National Park and covers an area of 3230 square km. One of the principal features of Mikumi is the Mkata River floodplain, an area of lush vegetation, which particularly attracts Elephant and Buffalo.
The park is flanked between the Uluguru and Udzungwa Mountains. Open grasslands dominate in the floodplain, eventually merging with the Miombo Woodlands covering the lower hills. Mikumi National Park is home to Buffalos, Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Zebras, Leopards and is also famous for its Wild Dogs and 6m long Pythons. Overnight at Foxes Safari Camp. Breakfast. Lunch. Day 5: Ruaha, Tanzania
Ruaha is approximately a 5 hour drive from Mikumi. This is one of the most scenic routes in southern circuit, villages, hills, mountain, local agricultural projects on the great Ruaha River are some of the attractions on this route. Overnight at Ruaha River Lodge. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. (FB)
Day 6 & 7: Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
Ruaha National Park is Tanzania 's second biggest park and host to a number of animals which are rare or absent in the north. The rare animals include the African Wild Dog, Roan and Sable antelope and the greater Kudu.
The Great Ruaha River provides life to the park, flows through the eastern side of the park and is home to Hippos, Crocodiles and a variety of water birds. You will stay at the Ruaha River Camp. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner.(FB)
Day 8: Mikumi National Park, Tanzania
Breakfast at the camp then depart to Mikumi National Park for overnight at Vuma Hill Tented Camp. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner.(FB)
Day 9: Udzungwa Mountain National Parks, Tanzania
Early morning breakfast at the camp then drive to Udzungwa Mountain National Parks for full day walking activities. Overnight at Vuma Hill Tented Camp. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner.(FB)
Udzungwa Mountains National Park covers an area of 1900 square km and is the newest National Park in Tanzania opened to the public in 1992. The Red Colubus and the Sanje crested Manabrey, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Sable antelopes are some of the residents in this park.
A good range of birdlife is present which includes Rufous winged Sunbird, Iringa Akalat, Lagden's bush Shrike and Udzungwa Partridge. Activities include a hike to the Sanje waterfalls or a climb to the top of the Luhombereo, Udzungwa highest peak.
Day 10: Zanzibar
Early morning departure for Dar es Salaam to connect with your flight for Zanzibar or to connect with your flight back home.
