DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Transfer to Kinga Homes

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by your professional, English-speaking safari guide, who will assist with luggage handling and ensure a smooth arrival process. After a brief introduction, your guide will provide an overview of your safari adventure, including key highlights, safety information, and general expectations for the days ahead, marking the start of your unforgettable Great Migration safari in Tanzania.

You will then depart the airport for a scenic transfer to Kinga Homes, a comfortable and peaceful lodge located in the Moshi area. The drive offers a gentle introduction to northern Tanzania, passing through small towns, agricultural landscapes, coffee and banana plantations, and traditional rural villages. Along the way, you will observe local daily life, and on clear days, enjoy beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru rising above the plains.

Upon arrival at Kinga Homes, you will be welcomed by the lodge staff and escorted to your room. Refreshments will be served as you settle in and relax in the tranquil surroundings. The property features lush gardens, open spaces, and comfortable communal areas, an ideal setting to unwind after your international journey.

Day 2 Kinga Homes to West Kilimanjaro 

After an early breakfast at Kinga Homes, you will depart for West Kilimanjaro, a vast and scenic wildlife corridor stretching between Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The drive offers beautiful views of open savannah, acacia woodlands, and distant volcanic peaks, providing an excellent introduction to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Along the way, your guide will share insights about the landscapes, wildlife, and communities that inhabit this unique region.

Upon arrival in the West Kilimanjaro area, you will begin your first game drive of the safari. This area is known for its wide-open spaces and low vehicle density, allowing for relaxed, rewarding wildlife viewing. You may encounter Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Wildebeest, Eland, Buffalo, and a variety of bird species, all set against the dramatic backdrop of Kilimanjaro’s slopes.

Later in the day, you will visit a traditional Maasai Boma if you’re interested, where you will be welcomed by members of the local Maasai community. During this cultural visit, you will learn about Maasai customs, traditional housing, daily life, and their long-standing relationship with wildlife and the land. This experience offers a meaningful cultural context and a deeper understanding of Tanzania beyond the game drives.

In the afternoon, you will arrive at Kambi ya Tembo Tented Lodge, a charming eco-friendly lodge located within a private wildlife area. After check-in and some time to relax, you will enjoy a guided walk around the lodge grounds, led by a knowledgeable guide. During this walk, you will learn about indigenous plants, medicinal herbs, animal tracks, and the surrounding ecosystem, gaining a closer connection to the natural environment. As evening approaches, return to the lodge to unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You may choose to relax on your private veranda, watch wildlife pass through the area, or enjoy the sunset views of Mount.

Day 3Full Day Exploration in West Kilimanjaro

Today is dedicated to experiencing the beauty and diversity of the West Kilimanjaro region. After breakfast, you will set out on a guided walking safari. Experienced Maasai guides will accompany you. Walking close to wildlife offers a unique and intimate perspective. You can observe animal tracks, behavior, and ecosystem details often missed during vehicle safaris.

Bird enthusiasts will enjoy bird-watching activities. This region is home to a wide variety of bird species, both resident and migratory. Your guides will help identify different species and explain their habitats and behaviors.

Later in the day, you will enjoy a game drive. On clear days, there are opportunities to view Mount Kilimanjaro. The area borders Amboseli National Park, and you may approach the border. Sightings of gerenuk, old bull elephants, elands, zebras, and other plains game are common here.

A picnic lunch or lodge meal awaits, followed by time for relaxation. In the afternoon, continue exploring the area by vehicle or simply enjoy leisure time at the lodge, soaking in the tranquil environment.End your day with dinner and an overnight stay at Kambi ya Tembo, surrounded by stunning landscapes.

Day 4 West Kilimanjaro – Tarangire National Park and  Overnight  Sopa Lodge

After an early breakfast at Kambi ya Tembo, you will say goodbye to the West Kilimanjaro area and begin your journey toward Tarangire National Park. You will travel with packed lunch boxes, as the drive takes approximately four hours. The road passes through open countryside and traditional rural villages, giving you a chance to see local homes, small farms, livestock, and people going about their daily routines. This part of the journey offers a deeper look into the culture and lifestyle of northern Tanzania.

As you approach Tarangire National Park, the landscape begins to change, with wide open plains, tall grasses, and the famous baobab trees appearing along the way. Upon entering the park, you will begin your first game drive. Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s best wildlife parks and is especially famous for its large Elephant families, among the largest herds in the country. It is common to see Elephants walking along the road, feeding, playing, or cooling off near the river.

During the game drive, your guide will help you spot a wide variety of wildlife. Animals often seen in Tarangire include Lions resting in the shade, Leopards hidden in trees, Giraffes feeding on acacia leaves, Buffalo moving in large groups, Zebras, Wildebeest, and several species of Antelope. The park is also home to many birds, making it a wonderful place for bird lovers.

At midday, you will stop at a picnic site inside the park to enjoy your packed lunch. After lunch, you will continue with an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River, where many animals gather to drink water, offering excellent opportunities to see wildlife up close. In the late afternoon, you will drive to Tarangire Sopa Lodge for an overnight

Day 5 Tarangire National Park – Ngorongoro Crater (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

After an early breakfast at your lodge in Tarangire National Park, you will depart for a morning game drive as you slowly exit the park. The early hours offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, as predators and herbivores are still active before the heat of the day. You may encounter Elephants moving toward water sources, Lions returning from night hunts, and Giraffes browsing quietly among the acacia trees.

Following the game drive, you will continue your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, travelling through scenic highland landscapes, local villages, and cultivated farmlands. Upon arrival at the Ngorongoro Crater, you will descend approximately 600 meters into the crater floor, one of the most extraordinary natural wildlife sanctuaries in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The crater supports an exceptionally high concentration of wildlife within a relatively small area. During your game drive, you may encounter the Big Five, including lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Leopards, and the rare Black Rhinoceros. Other wildlife includes Hippos, Hyenas, Zebras, Wildebeest, Gazelles, and Large flocks of Flamingos at Lake Magadi.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a designated site inside the crater, surrounded by stunning scenery. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater rim and proceed to your lodge located within or near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 6 Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Central Serengeti National Park

 After an early breakfast, you will leave your lodge and travel to Serengeti National Park. The route passes through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will see volcanic landscapes, open plains, and Maasai communities grazing livestock among wildlife.

At Naabi Hill Gate, you will complete park formalities before entering Serengeti National Park, where game viewing begins immediately. The Serengeti is renowned for its expansive plains and abundant wildlife. As you drive toward central Serengeti, you may see large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, along with predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

The Central Serengeti, or Seronera area, is rich in wildlife thanks to its permanent water sources that attract animals year-round. You will enjoy a game drive en route to your accommodation, exploring various habitats and wildlife concentrations.

Lunch will be provided en route or upon arrival at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will continue your game drive in the Seronera Valley, known for excellent predator sightings. Dinner and overnight will be at your selected lodge or camp in Central Serengeti.

Day 7 Full-Day Game Drives in Central Serengeti National Park

This day is dedicated to exploring the Central Serengeti, one of Tanzania’s best wildlife areas, famous for its endless plains and high animal concentration. After an early breakfast at your lodge or camp, you will depart with picnic lunches for a full-day game drive, giving you more time inside the park without rushing.

Your professional safari guide will carefully search for wildlife throughout the day, with a special focus on predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, which are commonly seen in this region due to the abundance of prey. The Seronera River Valley is a key wildlife area, attracting animals year-round and offering excellent chances to see big cats resting under trees, hunting, or caring for their young, especially during the cooler morning and afternoon hours.

As you explore different parts of the park, you will also encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebras, topis, hartebeests, and gazelles grazing across the plains. Elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and hippos are also often seen. The Serengeti is rich in birdlife, with many resident and migratory species, making it a rewarding experience for bird lovers as well.

At midday, you will stop at a scenic picnic site within the park to enjoy your packed lunch while taking in the wide-open landscapes and surrounding wildlife. After lunch, the afternoon game drive continues, giving you the opportunity to explore new areas of the Central Serengeti and observe changing animal behavior as the day progresses.

In the late afternoon or early evening, you will return to your lodge or camp to relax and freshen up after a full day of safari activities. Later, you will enjoy dinner and an overnight in the Central Serengeti.

Day 8 Central Serengeti – Morning and Afternoon Game Drives

After breakfast at your lodge, you will set out for a morning game drive in the Central Serengeti. The early hours are among the best times to see wildlife, as cooler temperatures bring animals out of the shade. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards are often more active in the morning, while herds of Wildebeest, Zebras, Topis, And Gazelles graze peacefully across the plains. Your guide will help you spot animals, explain their behavior, and provide fascinating insights into the Serengeti’s ecosystem.

You will explore areas such as the Seronera Valley, known for its high wildlife density, including elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and a variety of bird species. The vast open plains and gently rolling hills create beautiful scenery and fantastic opportunities for photography.By midday, you will return to your lodge for lunch and some leisure time, allowing you to rest, refresh, and enjoy the lodge’s facilities. This is a perfect time to relax, take in the views, or reflect on the wildlife encounters from the morning game drive.

In the late afternoon, you will head out for another game drive, taking advantage of the warm, golden light that highlights the Serengeti’s landscapes. Animals often become more active again as temperatures cool, providing additional chances to observe predators hunting, herbivores grazing, and interesting interactions between species. Your guide will take you through various parts of the park to maximise wildlife-viewing opportunities. As the sun sets over the Serengeti, painting the sky with brilliant shades of orange and pink, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9 Central Serengeti – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende / Mara River Area)

After an early breakfast, you’ll leave Central Serengeti and travel north to the Kogatende region, famous for the Mara River and the dramatic Great Migration river crossings. The drive offers beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, antelope, and sometimes lions, cheetahs, or hyenas. Your guide will share insights about the animals, the landscape, and the migration, making the journey as exciting as the destination.

Upon arrival, you’ll head to the Mara River, where, with patience, you may witness wildebeest and zebras crossing the strong, crocodile-filled waters in search of fresh grazing in Kenya’s Maasai Mara a truly once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. Lunch will be taken en route or at your camp, giving time to rest before the afternoon game viewing. You can continue exploring the Mara River area, observing wildlife interactions and the vast herds moving across the plains.

In the late afternoon, you’ll reach your lodge or tented camp in Kogatende, set in the heart of the wilderness. After checking in, relax, enjoy the scenery, and maybe spot some wildlife from camp. In the evening, enjoy dinner under the African sky

Day 10 Northern Serengeti – Arusha (Road Transfer or Scheduled Flight)

After breakfast, you will enjoy a final morning game drive in the northern Serengeti, giving you one last chance to observe the incredible wildlife and take in the breathtaking landscapes of this iconic region. This drive is the perfect opportunity to capture final photographs of roaming wildebeest, zebras, predators, and birds, and to savor the peaceful beauty of the Serengeti one more time before concluding your adventure.

After the morning game drive, you will either begin the road transfer back to Arusha or take a scheduled domestic flight, depending on your travel arrangements.
