Day 2 of your 5 Day Ndutu Calving Season Safari begins with an early breakfast in Arusha, followed by a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich and visually remarkable areas. As part of your Ndutu calving season safari, the journey takes you through changing landscapes, from open plains to gently rolling hills, with iconic baobab trees that are common across northern Tanzania. Along the way, you can observe local villages and rural life before entering Tarangire National Park, an area well known for its large elephant populations, seasonal river, and rich birdlife.

Once inside the park, you enjoy an extended guided game drive, with frequent and rewarding wildlife sightings throughout the day. Animals commonly seen include elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a variety of resident predators, offering an excellent introduction to Tanzania’s wildlife. Although the wildebeest calving season in Ndutu takes place later in the safari, Tarangire’s permanent water sources attract many animals, creating excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.

In the afternoon, game drives continue along the Tarangire River, an important water source that draws wildlife from all over the park. The riverbanks provide some of the best viewing areas, especially during the dry season when wildlife gathers in large numbers. The park’s wide-open landscapes, ancient baobab trees, and high concentration of wildlife make this day an important part of the safari experience. The day ends with a relaxed drive to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, allowing you to rest and prepare for the next stage of the journey.
